 The CSC Awards program recognizes outstanding contributions by chemists for their research in a wide variety of fields.

Most CSC award winners receive their awards and present award lectures at the Canadian Chemistry Conference and Exhibition.

  • Alfred Bader Award: Presented as a mark of distinction and recognition for excellence in research in organic chemistry by a scientist who is currently working in Canada.
  • Award for Research Excellence in Materials Chemistry: Presented to a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant who has made an outstanding contribution to materials chemistry while working in Canada.
  • Bernard Belleau Award: Presented to a scientist residing in Canada who has made a distinguished contribution to the filed of medicinal chemistry through research involving biochemical or organic chemical mechanisms.
  • Boehringer Ingelheim (Canada) Doctoral Research Award: Presented to a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant whose PhD thesis in the field of organic or bio-organic chemistry was formally accepted by a Canadian university in the 12–month period preceding the monition deadline and whose doctoral research is judged to be of outstanding quality.
  • Boehringer Ingelheim (Canada) Research Excellence Award: Presented to a scientist residing in Canada who has made a distinguished contribution to medicinally relevant organic or biophysical chemistry while working in Canada.
  • CCUCC Chemistry Doctoral Award: Presented to recognize outstanding achievement and potential in research by a graduate student whose PhD thesis in chemistry was formally accepted by a Canadian university in the 12–month period preceding the nomination deadline.
  • Clara Benson Award: Presented to recognize a woman who has made a distinguished contribution to chemistry while working in Canada.
  • E.W.R. Steacie Award: Presented to a scientist who has made a distinguished contribution to chemistry while working in Canada.
  • Fred Beamish Award: Presented to an individual who demonstrates innovation in research to the field of analytical chemistry, where the research is anticipated to have significant potential for practical applications.
  • Ichikizaki Fund for Young Chemists: Provides financial assistance to young chemists who are showing unique achievements in basic synthetic organic chemistry research by facilitating their participation in international conferences or symposia.
  • John C. Polanyi Award: Presented for excellence by a scientist carrying out research in Canada in physical, theoretical or computational chemistry or chemical physics.
  • Keith Laidler Award: Presented to a scientist residing in Canada who has made a distinguished contribution to the field of physical chemistry while working in Canada, recognizing early achievement in his/her independent research career.
  • Maxxam Award: Presented to a scientist residing in Canada who has made a distinguished contribution to the field of analytical chemistry while working in Canada.
  • Merck Frosst Centre for Therapeutic Research Award: Replaced by Boehringer Ingelheim (Canada) Research Excellence Award.
  • Rio Tinto Alcan Award: Presented to a scientist, who has made a distinguished contribution to the fields of inorganic chemistry or electrochemistry while working in Canada.
  • R. U. Lemieux Award: Presented to an organic chemist who has made a distinguished contribution to any area of organic chemistry and who is currently working in Canada.
  • Strem Chemicals Award for Pure or Applied Inorganic Chemistry: Presented to a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant who has made an outstanding contribution to inorganic chemistry, demonstrating exceptional promise, while working in Canada.
  • The Teva Canada Limited Biological and Medicinal Chemistry (BMC) Lectureship Award Presented to a scientist who has made a distinguished contribution to the field of biological or medicinal chemistry within the past five years of the initial nomination deadline date while working in Canada.
  • W.A.E. McBryde Medal: Presented to a young scientist working in Canada who has made a significant achievement in pure or applied analytical chemistry.
