Parisa Ariya
McGill University
Parisa Ariya is the William Dawson chair (McGill CRC II) in atmospheric chemistry and has been a FQRNT professor-scientist at McGill University. Her research entails fundamental and applied homogeneous and heterogeneous studies of (photo)chemical atmospheric reactions involving metal-organic interactions. She is the author and co-author of over 70 peered-review papers, and book chapters, and has presented over 200 papers in national and international conference and workshops. She has been presented over 60 invited lectures including several keynote and plenary lectures in 4 continents. Ariya has served on the American Chemical Society editorial advisory board on analytical chemistry, and Chemistry Central, and is also an associate editor for the Geochemical Journal. She has served as the leading author on trace metal chemistry chapters for the United Nation mandated Reports and books in 2004, and 2008. She has served on several funding agencies in Canada and abroad including NSERC. Parisa has been involved in and/or led several field campaigns in the Arctic and sub-Arctic locations targeted in understanding of fundamental chemical processes in atmosphere and at snow-air/water interfaces using state-of-the-art spectroscopy techniques. Parisa is married and a mother of 2 young boys. She was raised in 7 countries, and was educated in 6 different languages. Parisa is active in public outreach activities in subjects related to atmospheric and environmental chemistry as well as climate change studies.

Terms of Reference
This award is presented to a woman who has made a distinguished contribution to chemistry while working in Canada.
Deadline: July 1 of every year.
Sponsor: Canadian Council of University Chemistry Chairs (CCUCC)
Award: Framed Scroll, $1,000 cash, and up to $500 for travel.
The recipient will be required to present an award lecture at the Canadian Chemistry Conference and Exhibition.
Membership in the Institute is not a prerequisite for this award.
All nominations will remain in force for three years. Nominators are responsible for keeping the record of the nominee up to date and complete.
The award shall be presented annually unless the Committee considers that no suitable candidate has been nominated.
