Terms of Reference

This competition is open to undergraduate and graduate students presenting an oral paper in the student program of the national CSChE conference.

Deadline: See the CSChE Conference site for the current year’s deadline.

Sponsor: CIC Chemical Education Division

Awards:

First prize: $350 and a certificate
Second prize: $150 and a certificate

Winners will be announced at the student conference banquet.

Eligibility: The prize is intended to encourage students to present papers of general interest concerning the following:

  • Critical evaluation of their educational experiences;
  • Innovative learning/teaching strategies and materials;
  • Other topics that address chemical engineering education.

Abstract Submission: Abstracts should include the title, presenters’ name(s) and a brief summary (100 to 200 words) of the presentation.

Format: The presentations will be 15 minutes in length including a question period. LCDs and a laptop will be available.

Due to time limitations for the competition the number of participants may be limited based on the date the abstract was received, or presentation times may be reduced. A complete list of presenters and times will be announced prior to the conference.

Judging: A panel of 3 judges consisting of representatives chosen from industry, government and academia.
